Travelling To York

You can travel to York in a variety of different ways - by train, coach or car.

Travelling to York by Train

York is on the east coast main line from London or Edinburgh with a regular service operated by National Express East Coast (formerly GNER) while Regional Railways North East offer a wide variety of local services. There are also other services from Manchester and other parts of Britain. Train tickets can be bought online via The Train Line.


Travelling to York by Coach

National Express offers fast and efficient coach travel to York from a number of cities including London and Manchester.



Travelling to York by Car

The Great North Road, the A1, runs close to York as does the M62 motorway. There are a great number of routes you can take to reach the city. If you're coming by car use the Highways Agency to check for roadworks on your route before you set off.
